my transformation story begins with what i call the magic point

like many people, i started out great in life.  super active kid who was outside all the time running around, playing, and getting dirty.  (i grew up in the country, so getting dirty was okay!)  recess at school was spent the same way, the fruits of which were usually snagged or torn tights, dirty clothes, undone braids, and other fun stuff.  i started playing basketball in 5th grade and played until i graduated.  i also played tennis.

then came the blissful college life.  i’m not a drinker, so i didn’t gain alcohol weight, but i stopped being super active.  i lived in apartments close to campus so i walked everywhere and frequently went to dances, but it wasn’t the same as being an athlete.  i started to gain a little bit of weight and lose my endurance…

then i got married and moved.  no more school.  just a desk job.  enter more weight…

a few weeks ago i looked at myself in the mirror, like i do every other day, but something hit me.  i had reached a point i never thought i’d reach.  i call it, the magic point…

in general, most people who are obese or super out of shape didn’t start that way in life.  and most people who are obese or super out of shape don’t actually have decent health excuses.  most are lazy.  most love to eat.  and in particular, most love to eat unhealthy foods.  i always postulated as a young girl about how someone can let themselves go.  i decided that there is a magic point in everyone’s life that everybody should be on the watch for.  the point when their current lifestyle not only isn’t resulting in a fit healthy body, but going the other way, and it’s recognized as such.  change is slow and no thin person every thinks that he or she really is going to get fat, but we see evidence all around us that many fat people were once thin and fit.

it was in that moment that i realized that unless something changed, the frantic hope that every time i stepped on the scale it would be closer to what i wanted would be in vain.  i realized that i needed to, and committed 100% on the spot to changing my life, being healthy, and getting fit!

so i chose p90x and my journey began…
